gorgeous Vintage “KOMORI” Japanese Doll made by Nishi & Co.
The tag on the base reads “Komori” (
baby sitter - quick translation obtained from Google Translate
).
“The doll portrays a Japanese baby sitter about a hundred years ago.”
The bottom has the makers sticker and reads Nishi Doll, Nishi & Co. Ltd., Made in Japan
This is a gorgeous doll of the baby sitter carrying a baby on her back. She is dressed in a silk kimono and other brightly colored clothing. Her hair is adorned with flowers and jewelry and is carrying flowers in one hand. Her posture is turned to face the side. Overall a gorgeous doll that was
made for display
in silk garments and poised on a stand. Definitely not created a child’s toy.
The condition is
excellent pre-owned vintage
. Garments and hair are not frayed and nothing seems to be missing. It has been well cared for and was most likely displayed in a closed case.
It measures a little less than
12” tall
and is on a black rectangular base that measures 4.75” X 3.25“
This gorgeous, highly detailed doll will make an excellent conversation piece and a fine addition to your décor / antique doll collection.
